After entering the university,I always hear some complains about the major setting for students, just like”Why to learn this,it’s utterly useless!!” So I was also bewilded about these complains.
Each student whos majored in science and technology, take higher mathematics after they enter the university and the class will last at least 1 semester.But after 4 years of study ,some of them leave the school and work.How about the higher mathematics?How about infinitesimal calculus(微积分)？Some of them will seldom use this mathematical tool to solve problems.So why waste time in this?
But one day,I suddenly realized that the premise of this question was wrong! For some aspect,the aim of the major setting for collage students is not for use!So learn for what??One of the answers will be”Learn for learning”, I think!
After entering the university,each student will be given a major.So the future life will be clearer for some extent. The background for this major must be learned step by step. After 4 years of study,the student can master the knowledge about his or her major.And also they are mature enough. So they can deal with some works related to their majors,even the jobs that are quite different from their majors! Because they had mastered the learning methods,they know how to learn new things quickly!From my experience,all of my classmates can deal with any mission of their area!
So remember for some aspect learning knowledge is not the ultimate aim in the campuse,but the learning methods!There is a good saying in English:If you can make it here,you can make it everywhere!!So trust me,do not waste time in the school,learn anything you are intrested in,someday you will use it to help you succeed!And life is a paradox!Who knows what would you use someday,even maybe in an emergency use!
